Every Breath You Take wins BMI songwriting award...

Broadcast Music, Inc. celebrated Europe's premier songwriters, composers and music publishers last night during its annual BMI London Awards. Guests filled London's Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane to toast the past year's most-performed songs on U.S. radio and television.

Sting won a songwriting award recognising the ten millionth performance of 'Every Breath You Take'. It was the only song hitting this milestone to be recognised at this year's awards and just to put the magnitude of the figure into a little perspective some of the other songs recognised last night were 'Yesterday' (9 million), Your Song (8 million), 'Save The Last Dance For Me' (7 Million), 'Crocodile Rock' (6 million), 'Baker Street' (5 million), 'Candle In The Wind' (5 million).
